2014 is here

I’m sure I’m not the only person who is so surprised about how quickly arrived. I feel like I went on vacation, came back to a crazy season at work and BOOM…2014. Needless to say despite my best intentions as soon as things started getting busy, this old blog here was the first thing that got ignored.

But I’m back and 2014 is going to be a great year.  I just know it.

Here are my resolutions for the year so the internet can keep me accountable.

Macro

  1. Eat better
  2. Spend less
  3. Read more
  4. Travel more
  5. Cook more
  6. Exercise
  7. Simplify

Micro

  1. Learn how to give my hair a blow-out
  2. Make fresh pasta
  3. Try canning and preserving
  4. Stop at the Farmer’s Market on my way home on Fridays
  5. Run a 5k
  6. Read at least a book a month
  7. Start (and maybe finish) my dollhouse

I already have some big plans for the year and can’t wait to kick it off. I signed up for BlogShop at Home, a Justin Timberlake and Sundance in late January.

Movin’ on up: Kitchen Wishlist

Kitchen-Wishlist

One of the spaces I think that I will make the most additions to is our kitchen. It’s not in the budget to overhaul most of our furniture in other rooms but there are lots of less pricey items I can buy for the kitchen. I love cooking and this will be just the motivation for us to make healthier meals at home.

We’re moving on up…

FloorplanI am super excited to announce that we have found a new apartment, hooray! That’s one less thing to worry about , the only downside is that we are moving 5 days after we get back from France.  Terrible timing.

After another rent increase at our current complex, we decided to shop around. The decision was clear as soon as we found our new place: 18 ft vaulted ceilings, a 10×6 walk-in closet, 220 sq. ft more space, a garage and new flooring, cabinets, countertops and appliances. I can’t wait and I’ve been wanting a space to do some DIY projects so the garage will be perfect. And Robert is excited because it will fit an 80″ TV. I’m pushing for a 70″ and placing the couch a foot closer to the TV. Same difference right?

Now I can’t stop thinking about how the new place is going to look and unfortunately, the unit isn’t vacant until 9/26, while we will be on vacation and it will be undergoing renovations until our move-in date so we won’t get to see it before moving in. I have no idea what the space will actually feel like and what will fit in the space.
