2014 is here

I’m sure I’m not the only person who is so surprised about how quickly arrived. I feel like I went on vacation, came back to a crazy season at work and BOOM…2014. Needless to say despite my best intentions as soon as things started getting busy, this old blog here was the first thing that got ignored.

But I’m back and 2014 is going to be a great year. ¬†I just know it.

Here are my resolutions for the year so the internet can keep me accountable.

Macro

  1. Eat better
  2. Spend less
  3. Read more
  4. Travel more
  5. Cook more
  6. Exercise
  7. Simplify

Micro

  1. Learn how to give my hair a blow-out
  2. Make fresh pasta
  3. Try canning and preserving
  4. Stop at the Farmer’s Market on my way home on Fridays
  5. Run a 5k
  6. Read at least a book a month
  7. Start (and maybe finish) my dollhouse

I already have some big plans for the year and can’t wait to kick it off. I signed up for BlogShop at Home, a Justin Timberlake and Sundance in late January.

We’re moving on up…

FloorplanI am super excited to announce that we have found a new apartment, hooray! That’s one less thing to worry about , the only downside is that we are moving 5 days after we get back from France. ¬†Terrible timing.

After another rent increase at our current complex, we decided to shop around. The decision was clear as soon as we found our new place: 18 ft vaulted ceilings, a 10×6 walk-in closet, 220 sq. ft more space, a garage and new flooring, cabinets, countertops and appliances. I can’t wait and I’ve been wanting a space to do some DIY projects so the garage will be perfect. And Robert is excited because it will fit an 80″ TV. I’m pushing for a 70″ and placing the couch a foot closer to the TV. Same difference right?

Now I can’t stop thinking about how the new place is going to look and unfortunately, the unit isn’t vacant until 9/26, while we will be on vacation and it will be undergoing renovations until our move-in date so we won’t get to see it before moving in. I have no idea what the space will actually feel like and what will fit in the space.

It’s been awhile…

In honor of National Dog Day, here’s my baby boy Tucker.

Life’s been a bit crazy lately so I haven’t been able to post as much as I like. Here’s a recap of what’s going on.

1. I got promoted at work (yay!) but have also been SUPER busy. Q4 is our biggest quarter and I’ll be spending the next few weeks getting everything ready for my absence during our vacation.

2. Speaking of our vacation, its only 25 days away, 5 of which I will spend on a business trip. That’s only 3 1/2 weeks to finalize all of our plans, book our rental car and the rest of our hotel rooms, pack and get ready. OMG, I have so much to do. Does anyone have any tips for travel in France?

3. Only ten more days till Football season starts. Our fantasy draft is tomorrow and I’m the commissioner so this has been taking over my life this past week. There’s a cash prize for the winner, but I’m more interested in beating (or at least making it into the play-offs) so I can talk crap to all of the losers until next season.

4. Like I mentioned in a previous post, our lease is up and we may be moving. On the upside, we would definitely move to a bigger place if it happens (more space to decorate and store stuff!). On the downside, I do not want to pack up everything and move. :( We also have to find somewhere before we leave for our vacation because our last day to give notice just happens to be 2 days into it.

5. In about two months, I will have 2 more nieces. Plus it feels like everyone online and in real life is pregnant and it’s giving me baby fever. Is it crazy to buy a wardrobe for a baby that doesn’t exist? Even if stuff is cute? I’m asking for a friend.

6. Homeboy’s birthday is next week and he’ll be turning 32. 32! When did we get so old?
